Making an Impact with Gosport's business community

Shaun Farrell, Business Broker, is available to help and support existing or potential businesses from sole traders, SMEs or larger organisations. He can advise them of opportunities and solutions that will benefit their business and then assist them by bringing in the most appropriate expertise to help. Advice and support can range from how to market your business successfully, finding the most appropriate training courses to informing businesses of available grants that are around. The support provided by the Broker is FREE and any other expertise or training provided may also be provided free or at a subsidised rate.

Over 300 businesses in Gosport have already benefited from support of the Impact broker, with one of the key successes being the development of the new business support website www.go-gosport.co.uk.  This website was developed in conjunction with the local Council and is part of a wider piece of work designed on improving the image of the Borough. 

One of the real benefits of the new go-gosport website is the development of the business directory.  From listening to local businesses in the Borough the Broker realised that local trading was key to the development of the economy and so work was commissioned on developing a portal for businesses to find customers and suppliers on their own doorstep.

Additional business support has been offered through one to one business sessions, business networking events and mentoring groups introduced for start up organisations to gain valuable business support during the early stages of development.  Also from consultation with businesses in the Borough, many events have already been run to improve the profitability and skills of their workforce. These have included legislation awareness workshops, pitching your business idea to others, how to reach out into new markets abroad and how to develop your website. The feedback from all the events so far has been very positive: - “Really great way to meet local people with businesses. It gets you thinking about how you can help them!”, “Wasn't sure what to expect, but really enjoyed it”
